Hi, I’m Sunshine! Ever since I was a child, I’ve been in love with art. Every school subject that had anything to do with creativity instantly caught my attention. I was the kid who always had ideas, who could turn simple things into something beautiful. Maybe it’s because I grew up surrounded by creativity. It was everywhere in our family.

I remember asking my father to draw for me. He even had a big sketch of his dream house for us. Though it never came to life, I can still picture it clearly. He would design stage backdrops for school events, lettering on styrofoam, cutting, painting, adding glitter. My brother also loved drawing and lettering. He was resourceful and creative in his own ways, just like the rest of us. Naturally, my siblings and I grew up doing the same.

By elementary school, I was already competing in cartooning and poster-making contests, representing my school. That continued in high school, and for a while, my dream was to become an architect. But life had other plans.

Financial struggles meant I couldn’t pursue that dream. I took BSBA Major in Marketing, not because it was my top choice, but because it was practical. Still, I wasn’t able to finish. At 17, I started working, first as a McDonald’s crew member, trying to be a working student. Eventually, I couldn’t return to school.

From there, I explored many jobs:

Call center agent.

Office assistant.

Lead generation specialist.

Data entry clerk.

Administrative support.

I learned a lot: tools, systems, strategies. But I wasn’t truly happy. I was working for money, not passion. And yet, those jobs became stepping stones, building my skills in accuracy, organization, and critical thinking. These qualities now shape my design work.

The Return to Creativity

When I became a Virtual Assistant, I thought it would be purely administrative, scheduling, replying to emails, managing files. But slowly, opportunities came. Clients began asking me to design flyers, banners, logos, social media ads, book covers, and more.

And there it was, the fire I thought I had lost.

While I’m still learning other design tools, I deeply admire and respect professional graphic designers. I don’t claim the title myself, but others have called me one after seeing my work. What I do confidently call myself is a Canva Expert. I’ve been using Canva since 2017, and all my design work is created through it with care, creativity, and attention to detail.

Now, I’m not just a Virtual Assistant. I’m someone who loves to create, whether it’s designing, managing social media accounts, or scheduling content. I focus on making designs that aren’t just beautiful—they’re meaningful.

Beyond Client Work

Outside of my professional projects, I lead the Media & Design Team for my church. I design visuals for monthly and yearly themes, special services, and outreach events. It’s more than work; it’s service.

I also run a small printing business, customizing notebooks, planners, calendars, and more. It’s still growing, but it’s another outlet for my creativity.
